The newest acquisition to the GEOSIGHT fleet, custom built in 2019 by Audacious Marine, as a dedicated shallow water survey vessel, ‘Taran’ is a versatile platform that provides capability to carry out the full range of hydrographic geophysical surveys. With her two 90HP outboard engines, and shallow draft twin hulls, ‘Taran’ is an ideal vessel for all shallow water environments, and fits nicely into GEOSIGHTs area of expertise.
Measuring 7m and fully road transportable, Taran has ease of access for deployment from a trailer ensuring that she can work anywhere in the UK.
GEOSIGHT’s own small inland and nearshore survey vessel ideally suited for conducting shallow water surveys. Road transportable, Bella can be deployed and recovered from a trailer, and therefore can work anywhere in the UK.
‘Bella’ has an adjustable bow mounted frame to allow for the deployment of bathymetric survey equipment with a tilt angle of 0 to 70 degrees.
‘SBS Breakwater’ is a dedicated shallow draft all-weather survey vessel with its shallow draft and high transit speeds.‘SBS Breakwater’ maintains the ability to operate in exposed locations, which GEOSIGHT consider crucial attributes for successfully undertaking survey operations within the shallow nearshore areas and more exposed sea areas.
‘SBS Breakwater’ is coded to MCA Cat 2, GEOSIGHT have successfully deployed the Breakwater on similar projects during 2020 in both the UK and in Denmark where a fast transit was required to reach a remote survey site
GEOSIGHT inshore dinghy is fantastic for gathering shallow water multibeam data. It’s shallow draft and lightweight construction make it perfect for multiple launches and recoveries within a shallow water environment. The dinghy is powered by an electric outboard motor which eliminates any emissions or pollution which promotes GEOSIGHT’s ethos of being environmentally minded.
GEOSIGHT purchased the highly accurate Norbit iWMBS last year for use on our 6m survey vessel Bella, the Breakwater, and due to its compact and fully integrated design, which makes mobilisation incredibly efficient, it is regularly deployed on third party vessels taken on charter.
Norbit iWBMS high-resolution shallow water multibeam echosounder (MBES) integrated with an Applanix POS MV position and attitude reference system. The operational frequency for the Norbit MBES is between 400-700 KHz with opening angles of 0.9O° X 0.9O° @ 400kHz and 0.5O° X 0.5O° @700kHz. The system has a 210 ° swath width with 256 equiangular beams, which is proven to provide in excess of 4 X the water depth of useable swath coverage to IHO Special Order standard. The system is also capable of operating with a minimum detectable range of 0.2m below the transducer, making it an ideal choice for acquiring data into the MHWS level.
