Billy Miness

Land Surveyor

Billy has a background in Civil Engineering, graduating from Plymouth University in 2017 with a Master’s in Civil & Coastal Engineering. He then worked as a Site Engineer for 3 years with a contractor specialising in the coastal and fluvial environment. Whilst there, he was responsible for setting out a variety of flood defence structures including sheet piles, reinforced concrete and earth embankments. Billy then gained 2 years project management experience with the Environment Agency, helping to deliver various Flood Alleviation Schemes.

Outside of work Billy is keen water sports enthusiast having spent much of his childhood dinghy sailing, which led to him competing in international events in the Laser class. More recently he achieved his RYA Day Skipper qualification and used this to charter a yacht for his honeymoon in Greece. He also enjoys SUPing on local rivers and has also completed his PADI Advanced Open Water Diving certification on the Great Barrier Reef. His love of the outdoors stemmed from his time spent with Scouts and culminated in him achieving the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

Billy is currently working towards becoming a Member of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and is keen to progress his career within the Geospatial industry.
