Shepherd's Bush Market Laser Scanning

GEOSIGHT were instructed by U+I Group Plc to conduct a survey of the entire famous London market whilst it was in fully functioning order and open to the general public.

Zeb Horizon

GEOSIGHT were delighted to be able to undertake this unique and demanding project for U+I Group Plc as an excellent challenge for the team.

Owned by Orion Shepherds Bush (Market) Limited, the market opened in 1914 and welcomes customers 6 days a week, with shops and stalls occupying open space and internal areas under the railway arches for the Hammersmith and City Tube line.

Our instruction was to determine the gross internal area of each individual shop, stall and arch located at the site, equalling a total of 175 units to be calculated and drawn.

The site threw up its challenges, with the work unable to be completed by total station or regular scanning equipment due to the sheer quantity of people flowing through the market and the restrictive time constraints.

Thankfully at GEOSIGHT we can negotiate barriers to problems and in turn come up with great solutions. This particular solution was in the form of a Zeb Horizon handheld laser scanner which fantastically and efficiently mapped the market as we walked around the site.
